The P-47 has been getting a lot of press in terms of kits, decals and books as of late. Guess a lot of folks have felt that it needs to get its due so have been doing some catch-up. Well, you can add Sky decals to that list. Typical of Sky sheets, there are a number of different aircraft on it with common markings for but a few. This sheet has a total of 12 aircraft on it from many different units. A few of the profiles are shown above.

Included in the sheet are the aircraft and pilots listed below:

 P-47D-6 84 FS/78 FG USAAF WZ - BROWN
 P-47C-2  61 FS/56 FG USAAF HV*Z - MCCAULEY
 P-47D-6  63 FS/56 FG USAAF UN - TRULUCK
 P-47D-25  356 FG USAAF C4*Y - COFFEY
 P-47D-28  395 FS/368 FG USAAF A7*W
 P-47D-1  82 FS/78 FG USAAF MX*Y - OBERHANSLY
 P-47D-25 62 FS/56 FG USAAF LM*C - CHRISTENSEN
 P-47C-2  61 FS/56 FG USAAF HV*L - LAMB
 P-47D-20  378 FS/362 FG USAAF G8*Z - HODGES
 P-47D-30  362 FG USAAF G9*E - LAUGHLIN
 P-47D-30  86 FS/79 FG USAAF X01
 P-47N  456 FS/414 FG USAAF 754

As it the norm with Sky sheets, the printing and colors are absolutely first rate with no glitches of any kind on the sheet. Variety is definitely the spice when it comes to this super decal sheet with planes from early to near the end of the P-47s involvement in the war. It includes some rather tasty nose art as well. As a bit of a bonus, three bomber nose art images are included with this very colorful sheet.

The instruction booklet gives basically profiles with one overhead shot for insignia placement. A color guide on the back gives FS 595, Humbrol, Molak, Tamiya, Gunze, and Testors paint references. There is also a list of sources from whence the markings were gleaned. A couple of the pages are duplicated at the beginning of the review.

All in all, Sky sheets are probably the best 'bang for the buck' when it comes to aftermarket decals. If you can't find them locally, then they can be obtained from the link below.
