This next
big scale P-51 sheet is for a pair of very nice P-51Ds from the 357 FG. These
are designed for the Dragon and Hasegawa kits. Because there are differences in
the shapes of these kits, separate nose stripes are provided. The rest of the
markings are not airframe sensitive.
First up is
"Temptation" as flown by Matt Martin of the 362nd FS. This aircraft is rather
plain with only lower fuselage invasion stripes and the usual red and yellow
spinner to be painted.
The other is "Passion Wagon", probably one of the most modeled P-51Ds around. This is an early aircraft without a fin fillet. It was also painted in what were probably RAF colors of Dark Green upper with Medium Sea Grey undersides, though there are some who insist it was OD over Neutral Grey.
The special nose art decals are provided in duplicate in case you need a spare. These are very thin and so a white background is provided to ensure you can see them once applied. There are sufficient insignia for one aircraft.
As with all Pyn-Up decals, there is an extensive historical discussion on the aircraft. Any doubt is clearly stated and it allows you to make up your own mind on things. These sheets are limited to 300 copies so if you want it, you need to get it soon.
