Notes: ALPS printed decals

With the current (Sept 2004) flail-ex concerning President Bush's ANG service, it is quite timely that we have a new decal sheet specifically for his old unit, the 111 FIS. This sheet is superbly printed by Kedi Decals using an ALPS printer. It is so good, that even the data block can be read. Included are serials for three aircraft as well as the unique markings for one and white backgrounds for the various decals that need them. ALPS decals are printed on a single sheet and need to be carefully cut out individually.

ALPS decals do need careful handling when using them and the sheet comes with a full set of instructions on the proper use of these fine decals. Also included is a history of the subject(s) as well as an excellent three view showing placement and some notes.

If you know F-102s, then you know that there are two different wings. One is the Case X and the other the Case XX wing. The three planes on this sheet use the Case X wing as provided in the current Revell/Monogram boxing and in the ProModeler kit. If I were to add anything to the instructions, it would be painting information. I may have missed it but I'm not sure if these are overall ADC Grey (probably) or silver lacquer. I did pinch the image at the top of the page from their website that shows an ADC Grey plane, but even late in their career, there were silver airframes around. Regardless, an excellent sheet as one just doesn't see many ANG aircraft on decal sheets.

As a personal request, I'd love to see a 196 TRS California ANG RF-4C sheet with all the different flight colors on the fin caps. If reference photos are needed, I have a slew of them!
