Note: | This sheet is 1/72 scale |
Set number 63 is in 1/72 scale and covers Meteors operated by Israel, Egypt and Syria. This sheet is in 1/72 scale and will fit kits done by Frog, Xtrakit, PJ Production, MPM, Matchbox and Czechmaster. As you can guess, there are a wide range of types included on this sheet.
All of the IAF variants, which are basically the T.7, F.8, FR.9, and NF.13 are included along with any aircraft names. This covers both the bare metal and the camouflaged versions. Even the somewhat unique T.7.5, a T.7 with an F.8 aft fuselage is in set. At one time, Aeroclub made a number of conversion sets for the Matchbox kit. I'm not sure of availability, but this would be a good way to get some of these types built. For the Egyptians there are silver F.4, T.7 and F.8 aircraft and camouflaged NF.13s. Syria has camouflaged versions of the F.8 and NF.13 as well.
In the sheet and a half that is included, you get what seems like enough data markings for three planes and enough insignia for six aircraft, two from each country. Isradecals has provided enough data markings and insignia for that many planes. Add in the data bits and insignia from the kits and the number of possible aircraft goes up even more.
Isradecals' instructions are among the best in the world with full color photos and illustrations. The 8 page booklet contains a guide for placing stencils. The rest give options for the Meteor in every unit using every one of the different camouflage schemes that were applied. Each of these schemes is presented in a full color four view. Of course, there would be some small variation between aircraft, but not by much. Basically, if you have a photo of the plane, you can model it with this sheet. The set includes a guide for the named IAF T.7 aircraft to assist us.
The printing of the decals themselves is superb and done in the Czech Republic. I could not see even a hint of registration problems.
As with all of IsraDecal's products, this one is highly recommended.
