Another of Fundekals new subjects is this P-40N from the 89 FS, 80th FG based in India during early 1944. This unit was operated mostly in the ground support mission to assist 'Merrill's Marauders' during the dry season of 1943/44 in Burma. As such, it would have been fitted with underwing bomb racks. Even this late in the war, this aircraft carried the red surround insignia as well as a red spinner.
For kits, both Hasegawa and Academy do 1/72 P-40Ns. I should point out that this sheet is also available in 1/48 and 1/32 for those who want to work in the larger scales.
The markings are very nicely printed with almost no excess clear surround. They are standard waterslide and not ALPS printed as is frequently the case. The sheet includes unique markings and insignia. Typical of Fundekals, color placement diagrams and photos of the aircraft are available on their website.
If you are fed up with having to buy markings you will not use just to get one set, then I think this may well be the answer for you.
Thanks to Fundekals for the review sheet. You can find this and other products on their website.
