Finishing out the new releases, this one is 1/48 scale and also covers Iranian fighters. There are tfour aircraft on this sheet; two Tomcats and two Phantom IIs.
The Tomcats are the same as what was on the 1/72 sheet. There is a brown, sand and green over light grey aircraft from before the revolution in 1977 when the planes were new. The other is in the newer blue and grey scheme with the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force in 2003.
The different aircraft is an F-4D Phantom II from 2005. This one is in the brown, green and sand over light grey scheme. Also available but not shown is an F-4E in the same scheme from 2005. I'm not sure if any of the Phantoms were ever repainted in the air superiority scheme as they were mostly used for ground attack missions. If still extant, this has to be the oldest active military F-4 still around.
The FCM sheet provides insignia for three of the four options. The red center to the roundels is separately printed, which is a good thing. Historically, at least with 1/72 scale, Microscale has had some difficulty with insignia registration when red is involved. I saw it quite frequently when they did Superscale sheets. But I digress.
These markings also include a small selection of common data markings. Since many of the warnings are in English, you can glean any you need from the kit decal sheet. The sheet provides both upper and lower camo schemes as well as the left and right sides. All of the colors are provided with FS 595 references.
Definitely something different for your next project.
