NOTES:

Also available in 1/48 on sheet 48-011`

If you have been paying attention over the years, you'll note that Fox 1 has been putting a lot of effort into producing some very nice decal sheets for the F-4 Phantom II. Well they have outdone themselves on this one. The F-4G was the last type used by the USAF and ANG so it is fitting that those used during Desert Storm and afterward would be the subject of this sheet. In fact, there are 11 aircraft on this particular sheet. All are in Hill Grey II of FS 26118 Gunship Grey and FS 26270 Medium Grey for their camouflage. Yes, those are semi-gloss colors and these aircraft were kept in quite good condition so no grungy Phantoms!

Without going into great detail, the units covered are the 561st TFS/35 TFW(Provisional), 23 TFS/7440 CW (Provisional), 561st TFS/4404th CW(Provisional), 81st TFW/4404 CW (Prov), 190 TFS/4404 TFW (Prov), 190 TFS/7440 TFW (Prov), and 561 TS/57 FW.

All appropriate crew names, splitter markings and  other details are provided. In the 1/72 sheet you can do 4 aircraft with what's on the sheet; in 1/48, two. A note that two of the planes have the single piece windscreen that will have to be made by the modeler as I know of no aftermarket replacement. The instructions are quite complete and provide all the details needed to do a very accurate kit.

In both 1/48 and 1/72, the Hasegawa F-4G is recommended though I must honestly tell you that I've not seen the Hasegawa 1/72F-4G! There are other kits by Italeri and ESCI that are available in 1/72 while in 1/48, Italeri also does the G.

Thanks to Fox One for the review sheets and for using some of my photos.
