Just when you thought it was safe to start reading decal reviews again, here is yet another FW-190 sheet! This time it is all for FW-190A-8 variants with a mixture of 1944 and 1945 builds. You can tell those build in January 1945 and later as they have the larger 'blown' canopy and the thicker looking head armor support.

There are several very nice FW-190 kits in 1/72 from which to do the A-8 variant. The two top contenders are the Revell of Germany and the Hasegawa kits. Both are very nice and make super models.

The first aircraft is Black 9 from II./JG 301 at the end of the war. The main camo scheme is 75/83/76 though there are bits of the plane in other combinations. This is due to the decentralized situation regarding manufacture of aircraft that was needed this late in the war.

Yellow 14 is next and is in 81/83/76 with some parts still in natural aluminum. It has the yellow nose band and rudder required of Luftwaffe aircraft in the final months of the war.

The third 190A-8  is from II./SG 2 in 74/75/76. It also has unpainted parts of the airframe. It is unusual that a ground attack unit would be flying a fighter version instead of the 190F-8/9.

Brown 5 is in RLM 75/82/76 with the required yellow rudder and a yellow underside to the nose.

Finally, Blue 6 from 8./JG 26. It is in 75/83/76 and has a white 5 on the rudder. You could also paint the upper surfaces in RLM 81/83 should you choose as the jury is out on the exact upper colors. The blue for the number was printed the wrong color so a small errata sheet is included with the correct colors.
