Face it, Century Series airplanes are just cool and one of the coolest was the F-106 Delta Dart. Though built in relatively small numbers, the aircraft was the mainstay of Air Defense Command for decades, providing protection against a threat that never materialized, thanks in part to an active defense system. Modelers have been well treated in both scales when it comes to this aircraft and while only one kit per scale has been done, and while both are a bit on the old side, both are also well done. For 1/48 fans, this means the Monogram-Revell kit.
F-106s were almost uniformly painted in overall ADC Grey (FS 16473), making them one of the easiest models to paint.
There are two subjects on this sheet. First on the drawing is an aircraft from the 460 FIS from Grand Forks, ND, a unit that used to fly F-102s.
The other is the squadron commander's plane from the 5 FIS in their earlier markings. These folks were based at Minot, ND. Note that both aircraft have the early canopy.
There are enough insignia and data markings to do one aircraft and the instructions provide a data placement guide.
