Here is another F4U Corsair sheet; in this case it is all late war F4U-1D/F4U-4s in overall gloss sea blue. Most modelers really like this scheme as you just paint everything that isn't masked with the sea blue. Makes it a real pain to photograph, though. This sheet lists just about every F4U kit ever made in 1/48 as recommended. And why not? The markings are not something that has to fit a specific contour so now would be a great time to drag out those older 'Hog Noses' and stick some cool decals on them.
Because it is basically white markings, numbers and insignia, there are 6 aircraft on this sheet. However, there are only enough insignia for two. The F4U-4 will be the one with the plain white ones.
First is from the USS Hancock . This aircraft has a "crudely painted yellow nose" though a more neatly done one is shown as well.
Next is a VF-84 plane from the USS Bunker Hill. Those white arrows have always been popular.
From VFB-88 on the USS Yorktown is this F4U-1D. Same geometric markings as the Promodeler Helldiver.
This F4U-4 is from the USS Lake Champlain in June of 1945.
This VFB-99 F4U-1C is from the USS Shangri-La with lightning bolts as its pattern.
Finally, with a plain white stripe on the tail is thisF4U-4 VF-10 Corsair from the USS Intrepid.
