JG 1 was a unit that was formed after the war had gotten underway. Though, like most Lufwaffe geschwader, the various gruppe and staffeln were spread out, most of them spent their war performing homeland defense duties. JG 1 was one of the first units to get the FW-190A and this is the aircraft that was flown by most of the geschwader. Those of you who have been reading the series of books on JG 1 will recognize these schemes as having come from those volumes.

First aircraft is yellow 8, an A-5 from 3./JG1. It, like all the planes on this sheet are in standard RLM 74/75/76 camouflage with fuselage mottling.

Next is white 2 from 1./JG 1. This A-4 version has a yellow lower cowl with the large black area aft of the exhaust as does the previous aircraft.

From 3./JG1 is White 12, a checkered cowling A-6. It has a red section under the cowling and a white spinner tip.

Finally Black 1 is an A-5 variant from 11./JG 1. It has a red area under the cowling as well as a white spinner tip. There is also a large white gull personal marking on this plane.

Recommended kits are Tamiya or Dragon. However, I'm sure others could be used as well.
