With the release of the Revell/ProModeler F-86D, there have been a number of new sheets on the market. That is good as there have been a lot of very nice schemes. What is not nice is that there has been some duplication of schemes between the various decal makers. I guess they all work in a bit of a vacuum from each other and I can understand that.

On this sheet are four aircraft. There is another smaller sheet that contains all the buzz numbers, serials, and 'USAF' for these aircraft that is not shown. You should also be aware that there is a difference between the ProModeler and Revell AG kits. The ProModeler kit has the early tail without the parabrake housing.

First is a 97th FIS plane from Wright-Patterson in 1953. This aircraft has the early tail so you should use the ProModeler kit.

Next is a 13 FIS aircraft from Selfridge AFB in 1954. This is also an early aircraft.

The next two are both later modified aircraft with the parabrake housing. This requires the Revell AG kit. They are both from the 94th FIS in 1955. One is the commander's aircraft with the multicolored fuselage band. Both have nose art, which was not the norm for FIS aircraft at this time. One is 'Old Rover' and the other 'El Flying Wetback'. Not very P.C.!
