OK Phantom Phreaks, here is an oldie but goodie from Detail & Scale. This one includes three very nice F-4Cs. The sheet was undoubtedly developed for the Monogram kit, as back in 1981 (that's over 20 years, folks) that was all there was! In fact it clearly states "Designed specifically from the Monogram F-4C/D kit # 5800". There are three planes on this sheet, and I was able to come up with slides of two of them from my collection. The sheet instructions are excellent and give all the color and placement info that you'd need. There are also small photos of the planes in question to help you out. I've only shown one side of the sheet, but you'll get the idea. The decals themselves are done by Scalemaster and even back then they were able to make them off register. The only places that it is really a problem are in the various badges. The rest can be trimmed to remove the part that peeks out. It seems the white portion is the culprit on this sheet.
First is an F-4C from the 57FIS during the 1976 William Tell competition. It not only has a rather large checkered tail, but has small bicentennial markings on the side. It is in the standard SEA camo scheme of FS 34079, 34102, 30219 over 36622 with a black radome. As you can see from the image, it is not all that matte and in fact rather glossy.
Next is an overall gloss ADC grey (FS 16473) plane from the ADWC (Air Defense Weapons Center). This one is the Wing CO's plane and has extra color on the splitter plates.
Finally another overall ADC grey aircraft from the 199 FIS, Hawaiian ANG. The 199th names all its planes and this one is named 'Iwa'. Like most ADC grey planes, a very nice one and a scheme I like to paint (not a lot of masking needed!)
Though the sheet hasn't been around for decades, it can often be found at swap meets and stores that deal in second-hand kits.
