NOTES:

Here is a fine sheet for camouflaged B-17 Flying Fortresses. For this sheet, option in terms of kits is the Revell B-17F or Monogram B-17G. They may be old, but they are the only kit around for the variants and still buildsinto a very nice model when you get it done. All the options on this sheet are in OD over Neutral grey with no other color on them, as was the norm in 1943/early 44.

First up is 'Stingy' from the 338 BS/96 BG in early 1944. This aircraft was lost during a mid-air in late 1944 while on a training flight.

Next is 'Carolina Boomerang' from the 338 BS/96 BG. No photos of the tail survive so both a grey and yellow aircraft letter are supplied. This aircraft also originally had a red surround insignia that was later repainted blue.

'Mary Alice' was outfitted with a Pumpkin (also called 'Cheyenne') tail turret so needs either a Promodeler kit or a Cutting Edge conversion part. This aircraft supposedly suffered more repairable battle damage than any other B-17 and survived the war only to be scrapped at the end of the war. These markings are the original and not those as shown on the Duxford aircraft.

Insignia are available on sheets 48262/263 or you can use what is in the kit if it is appropriate to the aircraft you are depicting.
