You know, I have been looking all over the place for a good Me-163 sheet the last six months or so. It seems that they sell out very quickly whenever one is finally published. This one is based on Me-163 Vol 2 by Classic Publications which covers mostly JG 400 operations. While there are not that many planes profiled, there are more than enough for a nice decal sheet. This even includes an Me-163S, which all accounts will tell you never flew under its own power as it was deemed too dangerous by the test pilots. Not exactly an encouraging comment on a plane that was supposed to be a trainer! For kits most will pick the Trimaster/DML/Dragon version that has been reboxed by Revell, but there is no reason why cost conscious modelers wouldn't be able to use this on the old Testors/Hawk version.

First up is White 1 (or 4) from 1./JG 400. It is in RLM 74/75/76 with some light motling.

Yellow 11, from 7./GJ 400 is also in RLM 74/75/76 but has an RLM 02 skid, yellow nose and some primer on the fin in amongst the mottling.

White 9 is from 1./JG 400 and in an interesting scheme of RLM 74/75/76 where the entire fuselage is RLM 76 with RLM 75 mottles. It has a yellow nose.

From 1./JG 400 comes white 10 in late war colors of RLM 81/83/76. It has a white nose and no mottling at all.

Yellow 15, from II./JG 400 is also in late ware colors of RLM 81/82/76 with the tail mottling in RLM 83. It also has a yellow nose.

The lone Me-163S is in VVS colors; Probably AMT-4 Olive Green over AMT-7 Blue (which are part of White Ensign's Colourcoat range). It is probable that there were no wing stars at all and only those on the fin. Extra VVS insignia are provided in case you want to do a standard capured 163B.

Finally, we have yellow 2 from 7./JG 400, in RLM 74/75/76 with a yellow nose and lots of mottling.

The sheet, and book point out that almost no 163s had unit badges on them, though white 1/4 is one that did. In case you want to do a fantasy aircraft, a couple of extra badges are included!
