When Tamiya's 1/48 F-84G first arrived on the scene, it was gleefully snapped up by modelers everywhere. Since then, the new has worn off and they sit languishing on shelves. Revell released the ProModeler F-84G just shortly after Tamiya's efforts and despite it being a very nice and less expensive model, it did poorly. Recently Revell has issued an F-84E version with all of the differences of that variant. Now you can use some of the markings that have been available on decal sheets for the past few years.

This Cutting Edge sheet has three aircraft on it. Much to my dismay, there are no insignia or data markings, those having to come from the kit. You can also purchase the separate sheets for those items that are also offered by the decal makers. Those of us who have had little luck with Tamiya decals are less than thrilled by this.

Anyway, there are three aircraft. The first is an F-84G  from the 8 FBS called 'Rice Paddy Ranger'. The nose art is offered as a two piece affair in case you prefer it that way. Next is another F-84G from the 69 FBS called 'Five Aces'. Finally there is the lone F-84E and one of the few Mig Killer Thunderjets of the war. This one is from the 27 FEG.

The nose buzz numbers are only given in complete form for one aircraft. The others must be assembled from the bits given in each aircraft's section.

Because of the iffy-ness of the Tamiya decals, I'd personally use the Revell or ProModeler Thunderjet. From what I have seen of all three manufacturers kits built up, there is really little to choose between them and the newer Revell offering makes a genuine F-84E.

Please note that the sheet may look a bit short as I'll often crop off common markings to save on server space.
