This new sheet from Caracal Models is the first one I have seen for the KittyHawk 1/48 F-94C Starfire. This is a kit that I know few expected to see done well in this scale and now there are a number of options available for it. I know I have been holding off building mine while aftermarket sheets were being produced and Caracal Models has a very nice one.

This sheet covers three aircraft. All of them are in unpainted metal with Olive Drab anti-glare panels. Most of these planes had black radomes, but that was not always the case. The sheet provides one set of insignia and data markings along with a set of red upper wing markings (the smaller sheet).

First up is a subject I have seen on 1/72 sheets and that is a plane from the 27th FIS, from Griffiss AFB in New York during 1953. The yellow markings for the nose rocket doors are included. The modeler will need to paint the yellow on the tip tanks.

Next, with a blue nose flash and yellow intake markings is one from the 354th FIS based at Oxnard AFB in 1953. All of these planes had black leading edges to the wings and the horizontal stabilizers for de-icing. Note also that the caps for the wing rocket pods are all unpainted fiberglass.

The final one is with the 29th FIS at Malstrom AFB in Montana during 1956. Typical of those operating where it snows a lot, this one has arctic markings on the wings and tail section. This one also has a natural fiberglass nose cone for the radar. It would have been nice to have insigina decals all ready to go with metal surrounds for the red area, but a mask is available at www.caracalmodels.com

The decals themselves are superbly printed by Cartograf and the sheets come with full color placement information. It is nice to see aftermarket for aircraft like this and I'd encourage folks to buy this so they can do more. You can get this sheet direct from http://www.caracalmodels.com/cd48017.html.
