Though the recent years have seen a considerable reduction in the Air National Guard, there are still some flying units that have not converted to tankers, transports or drones. Last year, two of those units featured specially painted aircraft. Both of these F-16Cs are the 'big mouth' version and the recommended kit for this is the one by Tamiya.

First up is a 70th Anniversary plane from the 175 FS, South Dakota ANG. This one will require the modeler to paint the black areas on the fin and ventral strakes as well as the red on the stabilizers.

The other is from the 182 FS, Texas ANG in a faux WWII scheme. For this option, the black and white invasion stripes on the wing and rear fuselage will require painting. These stripes are 4.8mm wide.

As usual, Caracal provides an outstanding, full color painting and markings placement guide. . The markings are printed by Cartograf with enough insignia and data markings to do both options.
