Caracal Models CD 48115: AV-8B+ part 1

Units: Various

Scott Van Aken

Perhaps not provided the limelight with modelers as are other jets, the Harrier has been a mainstay of Marine Air for decades and will continue for a while longer until the F-35 gets made in sufficient numbers to replace it.

This is the first sheet from Caracal Models to cover the Harrier plus. Hasegawa makes a very nice kit of this version and this is the kit for which this sheet is designed.

There are five markings options. Note that I have darkened the sheet to make the white bits a little easier to see.

The first is from VMA-542 as it was in 2016. Like several of the other options, this one is a commander's plane.

Another is the CO's plane from VMA-214. This is the 2015 version.

THe third special scheme plane is from VMA-211 in 2016.

Fourth is the first of the two standard scheme planes and is with VMA-214 in 2014.

Finally, a VMA-211 plane as it was in 2016.

The set comes with full color instructions and a data placement guide. There are enough common markings on the sheet to do one aircraft, though you can, of course, substitute kit decals when doing other options.  The decals themselves are superbly printed by Cartograf.

If you have this kit, then this is the sheet for you.
