AOA Decals 72-010: Punchers and Tigers
|$15.00 (free US shipping)|
This is the second of AOA Decals new 1/72 A-6 Intruder decals. This one concentrates on units not covered the the previous sheet and includes some participants in Gulf War I. This includes the tan and brown aircraft, which will take some careful planning when painting, but will make into a great model when done. Aside from this aircraft, the majority are in the Tactical paint Scheme.
Of the six aircraft, here is what you have:
VA-65 Tigers (4 options)
USS Dwight D Eisenhower (1981/82)
USS Theodore Roosevelt (Desert Storm 1991) - special camouflage scheme, CAG scheme, and standard scheme.
VA-75 Sunday Punchers (2 options)
USS John F. Kennedy (1989-90)
USS John F. Kennedy (Desert Storm 1991
The sheet contains sufficient common markings to do two aircraft and if you want to do more, you can always use kit markings. Speaking of which, the recommended kit for this sheet is by Fujimi. Now I know that Italeri and Hasegawa also do an A-6E so perhaps that might be useful. Usually what makes decals kit specific are things like bands and tail markings. Only the large VA-75 might be an issue.
Thanks to AOA Decals for the review sheet. You can find this sheet and images of all the options at this link.
