Here is a nice sheet for the FW-190. all of the planes on this sheet are FW-190A-8s, so finding a kit will not be a problem. Probably most will go for the Hasegawa kit but there are other options from Revell, Airfix and a few others to choose from. Your intrepid editor has built a number of these, so a check of the kit review archives will undoubtedly help you with your decision on which to build. You'll also note the rather odd decal sheet presentation. Well, most of the sheet was insignia, so I cropped those off and that leaves just the unique markings.

While I'm at it, I should mention that unless noted, all are in RLM 74/75/76, the standard mid-war scheme for fighters. There are various levels of mottling from none to a ton of it. It is this mottling that really makes these models stand out and being able to do it is a skill that once mastered, makes doing Luftwaffe schemes a ton of fun.

From the top, the first aircraft is from 6./JG 300 and has the red Reich Defense band (which you have to paint) on the rear fuselage. This plane has no upper fuselage guns installed and all armor plating removed to improve speed.

Blue 4 is from 12./JG 5. In addition to its yellow rudder it has a blue spinner with a white spiral.

Next is black 12. This FW-190A-8 is  from IV./JG 3 and has a black spinner with a yellow spiral. The exhaust area is also painted black to an even greater extent than the two previous aircraft. This plane has the additional exterior armor. A template is provided for the fuselage armor though where you are going to get the canopy armor is beyond me.

From 14./JG 54 is red 11. It has no fuselage mottling and was most likely painted in RLM 81/82/76. Both the Reich Defense band and nose/spinner were painted in a non-standard light blue.

Finally, from 9./JG 5 comes this rather dark 190A-8. It is in standard colors, but painted in a most unusual pattern. There is almost no fuselage RLM 76 and only a touch on the fin.

Five very nice markings schemes that will add even more interest to your 1/72 FW-190 collection.
