Continuing with their 'Best Sellers' series is this first of two sheets on the P-47D Thunderbolt. Both the Hasegawa and Tamiya kits are recommended, but there are others that may work just as well.. All these planes are in bare metal.

First up is 'Balls Out', a P-47D-30 from the 509 FS/405 FG. This one has red for the wing tips, fin fillet, canopy frame, ID bands, forward nose and spinner.

Next is 'Chow Hound', a P-47D-28, also from the 509 FS. Unlike its more flamboyant partner, this one has red confined to the canopy frame. It has a black forward cowling and ID stripes on the tail section. It also carries D-Day stripes on the lower surfaces.

The final plane is 'Duck Butt', a P-47D-30 from the 392 FS/367 FG. The entire cowling on this one is red and it carries a black anti-glare panel.

Thanks to several readers who have informed me that the Hasegawa P-47D-30/40 boxing and one of the Academy P-47D boxings has the aircraft with the fin fillet. A small addendum sheet (not shown) has two more insignia on it.
