For Monogram 1/48 F-101B

The F-101B along with the F-106A were, for over ten years, the mainstay of the US Air Defense Command. These aircraft were armed with a number of missiles, but mostly carried Falcon and Genies. Their purpose was to intercept incoming Soviet bombers before they had a chance to deliver their nuclear bombs.

After serving for years in the regular Air Force, the F-101B Voodoo was the sole purvey of the Air National Guard, where they soldiered on until the late 1970s when they were replaced by the F-4 Phantom.

To say that the Voodoo has not been well represented by the major brands of decals would be an understatement. It has been left up to the smaller companies to fill the void. Other than a 1/72 sheet by the long defunct Aerodecal, there has not been a sheet with the markings of the Maineiacs of the 132 FIS, Maine ANG.

Thanks to Area 53, we now have a very nice sheet of 58-0295. Fortunately, Voodoos were not festooned with the huge number of stencils that Phantoms were subject to at the time. This allows Area 53 to provide all the markings that are needed to produce a superb kit. This includes the wingwalk areas and lower fuselage flush antennas as well as the usual markings and warning stripes.

The decal sheet itself is very nicely printed, though the yellow is slightly off register and will need to be trimmed off before using. The instructions, as shown above are more than adequate to allow you to do a nice replica of this neat ANG Voodoo. Probably the most difficult part of the experience will be finding a Monogram 1/48 F-101B!

Please note that I deliberately fuzzed the image of the decals to prevent unauthorized duplication.
