This sheet is probably the best seller that Twobobs has had in 1/48. When I talked to them at the Nationals last July, they said they had gone into their fifth printing so that has to be gratifying. Now the sheet is available in 1/32.
It is basically two planes in a 'Flanker' scheme, one of darker colors and the other in a lighter shade. Both are really quite eye-catching and best of all, there are minimal markings for the planes. When these special paint schemes are applied, most of the myriad of maintenance markings and sometimes the serials and insignia markings are not used.
With the lower scheme, some rather tricky masking will be needed for the wings, but nothing beyond the abilities of an intermediate modeler. The kit of choice will undoubtedly be the Tamiya Tomcat, but for those on a budget, the Revell one can be used as well. Both will probably need some minor modification to bring up to current standards in terms of the IR seeker and gun gas vents as those have changed from the early models of F-14.
Overall, a very nice sheet that is bound to find wide acceptance with the huge scale Tomcat fan!
There is a smaller sheet with ejection seat triangles for the two aircraft that is not shown.
