A brand new book from Jake Melampy covers the F-16 Fighting Falcon in ANG service from the first deliveries to the 157th TFS up until its use today in 2007.
This is not a dry historical reference but a book that is essentially a photo essay. The author has organized the book by state and each unit is given a brief historical background and then it is on to the photos. Each unit is represented with at least six pages of full color photographs, showing the unit's aircraft at different times since it first got the F-16. The photos are superbly presented and I'm glad to see that Jake has not succumbed to printing huge ones that cover 'the ditch' in between pages.
The book also has an index in the back of aircraft by serial number and the page on which they are found. Though it is provided in the write-up, it would have been nice to see a page listing the units and their current status, something of interest with so many being disbanded or losing their flying mission.
So what you basically have is a book with hundreds of superb photos of ANG F-16s. A book that is a pure delight and one that I can highly recommend to you, especially if you are a fan of the F-16 or the ANG.
