Edition #23 of Luftwaffe im Focus has been published following a somewhat long hiatus while the folks at Start concentrated their efforts on some other projects in their field of expertise.

This issue is everything we have come to expect from L.I.F. in that there are a number of interesting articles, some great photographs and a surprise or two as well. In common with other editions, there are a broad spectrum of aircraft covered from bombers to fighters to nautical types to hacks and recon aircraft. There are also several longer stories of missions or pilot exploits.

I found the story on the bombing of Soviet tank factories in October of 1941 to be particularly interesting. Not only by the quality of the images of some rather torn up returning bombers, but just on Luftwaffe bombing campaigns themselves. Unlike stories of 8th AF missions, we rarely get to look at what these sorts of missions were like for the Luftwaffe crews and this is a good one.

Then there is the article on the rather large aircraft name on Hans Philipp's FW-190A that has to cover a third of the fuselage. Another interesting story with not only photos but a nice, large color profile as well. I also enjoyed the tale of a late war 109G-14 fighter bomber pilot and his exploits in trying to carry out his missions in the last months of the conflict where just returning from a mission was an undertaking in and of itself.

All this and more awaits you in this edition. If you have an interest in the Luftwaffe and want to read and see more than what is usually published in the standard offerings, then this is for you.
