This is the first volume of what is hopefully to become an annual publication. This one is on US Navy vessels and as the subtitle of the book implies, it is a photo book.

The book is divided into sections by month and the photos of the fleet taken during that month are include in that section. One thing I did note is that there is no delineation in the book itself as to the specific month as the photo flow is seamless.

All of the photos were taken from official US Navy sources and the photographer is given credit where known. This not only assures us of quality images, but also allows the book to be published at a most reasonable price.

Each page has at least two photos, each with a caption explaining just what it is you are seeing. There is everything from Coast Guard light craft used to catch smugglers to the largest US Navy Aircraft carriers. Some of the highlights of the book are the building of the USS George HW Bush and the sinking of the USS Oriskany. The Navy's huge HSV-2 high speed catamaran is another of the more interesting ships and there are a goodly number of photos of submarines, cruisers, cutters and other ships.

In all, a book that is a real delight for those who are interested in things nautical and a book that I can recommend to you without reservation.
