This is, to my knowledge, the first book in a series called Musclecar Tech. It covers probably one of the best known cars of the type, the Ford Mustang. This is a car that started the 'pony car' craze in mid 1964 with an unpretentious car that was supposed to appeal to women. Well, it got the attention of those who like good looking cars and those who like to have a bit of performance to go along with it. Initially powered by either a straight 6, 260 V-8 or 289 V-8, later versions of the Mustang had hulking 428 V-8s under the hood.

In fact, the redesign of the Mustang in 1967 was so that it could accommodate these much larger engines. The next revamping brought with it the Mach 1 and Boss 302 Mustangs, some of the most popular high performance versions built. The final three years saw the initial Mustang grow into a rather large car, one that was definitely moving away from performance. 1973 was the last year of the first generation Mustangs as concerns over fuel and economy required a more austere vehicle to carry the Mustang name.

Inside these pages are things that enthusiasts and modelers alike will enjoy. There are quality photos and specs of all the different variations and trip packages offered on Mustangs. The photos are all of unmodified Mustangs, so that modelers will know exactly where parts and trim are supposed to go. Also included are sections on deciphering the car serial, trim packages, and a nicely done modelers section.

Overall, this is a superb book that will appeal to both the Mustang owner, enthusiast and modeler. Highly recommended.
