Gerry Manning obviously has a lot of aircraft photos as this is at least the third of fourth photo book he has done in the last year or so. This time, he needed some assistance from his fellow photographers to gather what is a superb book on what is basically British aviation of the 1960s.

Though not all the photos are of British aircraft, these almost all seem to have been photographed at British air shows or other venues around the UK. That does not take anything away from the fine choice of images that Mr. Manning has made as what is in these pages are just pure eye candy and something that aviation fans all over can readily appreciate.

The book is somewhat divided into sections with fighters, bombers, transports, trainers and helicopters each getting a general area of interest. What's more, the sections have all the images of a type in the same pages. Some types get more coverage than others and what is chosen is, of course, strictly up to what the author likes. He obviously likes the Lightning as there are seven pages devoted to this aircraft and that heads the book.

Other types include the F-101, Phantom, Sabre, Hunter, Meteor, various naval types, Canberra, and the list goes on and on. I found the various utility types to be of great interest as these rarely get to headline and are not often photographed. The C-47 pages were especially interesting with some pretty neat markings schemes.

Overall, I'd say that this is a superb photo book. The images are crisp, clear and well chosen. It is a book that you can buy, knowing you'll get a quality product and some great eye candy. A must for the fan of the 60s.
