You may recall a similar book on 1960's military aircraft by this author and this book continues on where that one left off. The 1970s still had a goodly number of different aircraft in the military inventory. Some were new models and then there were the usual hold-overs from years gone by. However, aircraft were getting to be more and more expensive so the actual numbers were starting on a steady decline that had begun after WWII and continues today where the sheer number of aircraft in military service is a ghost of what it was in the past.

Within these 144 pages are over 300 color photos from around the world that provide images of everything from Lightnings, to Phantoms to Skyhawks to Starfighters are sure to delight the military enthusiast. As these images are all from the author's collection, you will find it pretty well limited to aircraft from Europe and the United States with an emphasis on UK airpower. I found it to be another superlative photo coverage and I'm sure that you will as well. If you like military aircraft and want to see what used to be, then this is a book that you are sure to enjoy.
