One of the largest airlines in the world is Air France. It is also one of the oldest and it is through the usual mergers and combinations with other airlines that it became the company that it is today.

Starting just after WWI with modified bombers, it has grown over the years as the flagship airline of France. It has always had a somewhat unique French flavor that has made it a favorite of international travelers over the decades.

In this book on the history of the airline, author Geoff Jones has scoured the archives to present us with an incredible array of photos, chosen for their interest and clarity, that tell the story of one of the world's great airlines.

Air France has not only flown the 'standard' airliners over the years, but has had some most unique types in operation from the Farman 'Goliath', through the Bloch 220s, the unusual six engine Laté 631 flying boats and, of course, the Concorde supersonic airliner. Even today, Air France is one of the first to buy into the huge Airbus 380.

The book is a superlative read as well covering the advances in technology, the changing head of the company, the flight attendant uniforms as well as the other airlines that are or have been part of the Air France family.

It is a book that is both a great read and some excellent eye candy. One that is a must for the airliner enthusiast and those who like the more interesting and unusual. Highly recommended.
