Recently, Midland has been producing some superlative reference books. We can now add to that list this title on General Aviation. This is a greatly revised edition that includes not only newer designs, but also that category somewhat new to aviation, the 'heavy' micro-light aircraft. The book has over 500 photos and tables with nearly all the photos new to this edition and most of them in full color.
The book is laid out in alphabetical order, starting with Adam Aircraft and continuing until you get to Zlin. Depending on the scope of the manufacturers product line, you'll find descriptions from 1/3 to several pages with a photo of the most important types accompanying the write-up. I should also mention that this does not include versions sold to the military, though there are a few war-birds included; these being of a civil type used by the military and later surplused back into the civil market.
You'll find light aircraft, aerobatic types, biz-jets, feeder airliners, crop dusters and the whole range of civil aircraft. This does not, however, include helicopters, home-builts, kit planes (unless you can buy them ready to fly), or gliders. All the aircraft in the book have been built since 1945. To include all those other types would add several hundred pages to the 320 already included in this volume.
In all, this is the finest reference of its type I have seen. It is a must for the general aviation enthusiast and one that most of you will find extremely useful in identifying the bewildering number of aircraft that are at the airports around the world.
