I can always count on Specialty Press to come out with something interesting and this latest edition in their Photo Scrapbook series certainly fills the bill. For the first time, much of the secrecy around the development of this unique aircraft has been removed. The result is a much more detailed look at how the F-117 came to be. This also includes a raft of photographs that most of us have never seen.

A well-detailed development history is provided so that we can follow the trials and tribulations of getting this aircraft into production and out into service. It was not at all easy and the authors take us through the process. This is accompanied by a most remarkable set of photographs of the two demonstrators and the early production aircraft. Though not allowed to make reference to Area 51, it is here that the initial tests and flights occurred, shrouded in a great deal of secrecy. It is still amazing that an aircraft was developed and brought to operational status before the general public knew anything about it.

Much of the joy of this book comes from the unprecedented collection of photographs. These tell the story of the F-117 as well as any other part of the book and there are hundreds of them.

Overall, this is a truly fascinating book and one that I know you will find as pleasurable to read as did I. Highly recommended to all.
