This is the third of these books that I've reviewed and I find them all to be interesting and well done. In this edition, the various world airlines of the 1970s are presented in superb full color photographs. Back in the 1980s I was an avid airline post card collector and a huge number of these liveries and aircraft are quite familiar to me. Of course, as often happens, things got to be too much and I sold off my entire collection to an even more avid collector!

Unlike some of the other books of this genre, this one is listed by aircraft type and there are some beauties in there. It starts with the recips and moves on to turboprops and through the various turbojet/turbofan powered aircraft. That means that in the beginning you'll find C-46s, DC-6s and move on to Convairs, Electras, Brittanias, DC-9s, Caravelles, 727s, DC-8s, 707s and 747s. There are also Ilyushins and Tupolevs tossed into the mix so that all are covered.

And there are the long gone airlines like Frontier, BAF, Eurafric, Northeast, British United, Mohawk, Air Inter and New York Airways to name but a few. Each of the photos has a caption that gives a brief history of the airline and the aircraft in the photograph, making for a most enjoyable read

The book is well balanced, a real piece of eye candy, and one that truly deserves to be on your shelves.
