NOTES:

R/T arrived with its Fall edition in my mailbox the other day and as usual, I was very glad to be able to go through it. Though there are not as many articles as you have seen in the past, those that are provided are generally more detailed or photo intensive. As some of you know, IPMS Canada also has on-line content, if you want more.

Once past the editorial and columns by the national director and others, we get into the articles.

The first article is one of two on the Beaufighter, this one by Mike Novosad. As is so often, it is of a Canadian subject, in this case a Coastal Command plane with 404 Squadron. Not surprisingly, the very nice Tamiya 1/48 kit is used as a basis for this work and the usual bevy of aftermarket bits go into the build as well as the now-standard Spanish school of weathering. The end result is a very nicely done presentation.

The next Beaufighter article is by Terry Higgins, the man behind Aviaeology books and decals. In this article, Terry follows the life of a specific aircraft NE355 from the factory until its last days. The article is a super read and Terry has provided quite a few period photos and information on this plane that the modeler will find quite useful.

Next is the cover article by Gary Barling as he goes into considerable detail of his Bronco Staghound build. This kit was built as a presentation model to a veteran who was crew of this vehicle during the war.

Frank Cuden then puts a lot of effort and extra work into building a bare metal Italeri 1/72 B-25 H. a considerable amount of scratch-building is done to enhance the finished product.

We then get an interesting article by Ken Nesbitt on the use of a food dehydrator to help speed up paint curing. There is more to it than just plunking in the freshly painted kit, and Ken walks us through the procedure.

Finally, we get the next installment of Vic Scheuerman's super detailing of the Revell Ventura as he does the radio operator's compartment.

In all, a most welcome issue that is read in far too short a time, but well worth the work that has gone into it.
