NOTES: |
R/T has adjusted its publication schedule due to changes at the printer so this last issue of Volume 34 is now marked as Fall/Winter. As with the previous edition, there are not as many articles as you have seen in the past, but those that are provided are generally more detailed or photo intensive.
Once past the editorial and columns by the national director and others, we get into the articles. I like it as it is an airliner that is one that I was unaware was kitted in any form, the Embraer 170. This is modeled as the 175 and was built by Frank Cuden to portray an Air Canada aircraft in their latest Ice Blue scheme. The kit is from Hasegawa and is 1/144 scale, for those who would want to duplicate it.
Barry Maddin, who has done some fine articles in the past, has the next one which is for the armor fans. This is his MiniArt 1/35 Valentine VI, which has a lot of additional work added to really bring out the detail that is not included in the kit.
Andy Bannister takes us through quite a saga with his build of the WARP Models Eagle from Space: 1999. This multimedia kit has quite a lot of cast metal in it and I have to say that I would have given up on it by just looking at the condition of the parts. Thankfully, Andy has a real love for the subject and his superb model shows it.
Academy's 1/32 F-18D Hornet was the subject of Colin Kunkel. Colin has 'Canada-ized' this one from the US version to make a proper CF-18B. It takes just a bit of back dating and a bit of scratch-building to bring the kit up to current specs.
The model articles end in this edition with Tony Whittingham's very nicely done HMS Graph. This was formerly the U-570, a Type VII u-boat that was captured and used on clandestine operations. The kit used on this was the big Revell sub and Tony did a superb job of adding all sorts of detail to it, making it a true standout.
The last article is one on model paint color conversions, providing a number of reference sources for those who want to get their colors just right.
