NOTES: |
Just missing Spring by only a few days, the Spring edition of R/T arrived the other day, thanks to the slowness of the Canada and/or US postal system. This one is a much more mixed edition than some of the previous, though it still has a lot of aviation stuff in it. It seems to this reviewer and editor that the majority of people who write for general modeling publications, whether on-line or in paper, seem to lean towards aircraft.
Once past the editorial and columns by the national director and others, we get into the articles. The first one is an excellent out of the box build of the AFV 88mm Pak43/41 by Brian Miller. It is not often than Society magazines provide out of the box builds in their pages and this is a particularly nice one.
Next is Gary Barling's Tamiya 1/48 Spitfire IIb using the Vb aircraft, a bunch of aftermarket and a lot of skill. The end result is a very nicely done Spitfire.
The edition moves back to armor with the cover vehicle, the Bronco 1/35 Humber Mk. I. Bronco kits have a ton of very tiny parts and it shows in this excellent build by Barry Maddin.
Randy Lutz completes a build that was on and off for several years and does a superb early P-40N-1 using the AMtech kit and some kit bashing as well as some bits from other sources.
Next is a how to article by Michael Novosad on how to make seamless intakes for jet aircraft. The process looks to be quite interesting and something that jet modelers may wish to consider.
The edition ends with a multi-author look into the CH-113 and CH-113A Voyager and Labrador. This is part one of a serious aimed that those with a good case of AMS.
