NOTES: |
Just missing Winter, the Winter edition of R/T arrived the other day, thanks to the slowness of the Canada and/or US postal system. This one is pretty much an aviation issue with more color than in previous editions. In fact, all 36 pages have color of some sort on them.
Once past the editorial and columns by the national director and others, we get into the articles. The first one is a look at Canadian entries in the ScaleModelWorld, touted as the World's Greatest Model Show. Well, I am sure that there might be some argument about that, but judging from the photos, it certainly is impressive.
Then we get into the build articles with another superb build by Randy Lutz. This time he chooses the Huma 1/48 Flettner Fl-282 and adds some nice detail to an already well done kit.
Next, John Wong does some retro modeling with the Frog 1/72 Blackburn Shark. Naturally, it is far from OOB and is a very nice model. Some profiles by Aviaeology accompany the article.
David Knights shows us that simple still makes for a nice kit with the Fine Molds 1/72 Kaiten suicide torpedo.
The major article of the issue is Akira Watanabe's CH-113 Labrador. Quite a bit of additional work went into this Academy 1/48 kit and the result is simply stunning.
The issue closes with Bruce Archer's kit bash of an Academy and Airfix kit to make a very nice Spitfire XIV in 1/48 scale.
