NOTES:

The latest edition of Random Thoughts arrived on my doorstep a day or so back, and as usual, I tore into reading it. The format seems to have settled down and it is one that I find very nicely done and quite readable.  As usual, there are over a half dozen articles; this time a nice variety of ships, armor and aircraft.

Once past the editorial and the chapter stuff, there is the beginning of several pages of photos from the US IPMN Nationals. These aren't what you'd think as they look at the event from a distinctly Canadian point of view and concentrate as much on modelers as models.

The first build article is a Canadian Sea Fury by Michael Novosad using the Hobbycraft kit and a ton of bits and pieces from a variety of sources.

Next, Mike Blecher tells us what the well equipped modeler takes with him on vacation (in case it rains or something).

The RCN 'Iroquois' a Tribal class DDG with the latest TRUMP mods is the subject of Ryan Cameron's efforts using the Resin Shipyard's 1/350 kit.

The first armor build is Gary Barling's Sherman III using the Dragon kit and a bunch of additional bits and pieces that armor builders are so keen on using during their builds. This tank is the subject of this issue's decal sheet that provides markings for several tanks of the Sherbrooke Fusilier Regiment in the three major scales.

Also in this issue is Whittman's Tiger I, also by Gary Barling and also using the Dragon kit. This build and the Sherman III were involved in the same action after the break out from Normandy.

A delightful article by Chris Aleong on group builds is included and is a fun read. It isn't the same as our on-line group builds, as the subjects are quite specific as is the amount of work one is allowed to do, but it is a great idea and I think you'll get some ideas from it.

The final article is on a lighting set up for building get-togethers by Shawn Charland. I have to confess that I've tried building sessions with others and they just haven't worked out well. These guys seem to have it down rather well, though.

In all another outstanding issue and well worth the price of admission. There are more decals on the way and you pretty much have to be a member to take advantage of these.
