Continuing with their very nicely done Commonwealth Squadrons at War books, this one covers one of two Westland Whirlwind units, #137 Squadron RAF. It follows the unit through the Whirlwind days to its re-equipment with Hurricanes, then Typhoons, a type with which it ended WWII and was flying when it was disbanded.

In common with other editions, this one is basically a stats book that includes a unit history with lists of known aircraft/serials, a war diary of missions flown, list of air to air successes, including its score against the V-1, aircraft shot down, aircraft lost, maps of where the unit was based and a listing of all known pilots, including a list of those lost in service.

Overall, it is a superbly researched and presented edition that is chock full of photographs of 137's aircraft and the men who flew them. It also includes four pages on very high quality paper of  color profiles of the aircraft flown by the unit. A book I found fascinating and one that is bound to be a valuable reference resource in the years to come. Most highly recommended.
