This is the second book in Periscopio's new series called Photo Gallery. This particular edition is on the Panzerkampfwagen III (SdKfz 141). It starts out with a brief history of the tanks and the differences between the many variants. This includes the numbers produced and by whom. In this historical section, all of the images are period monochrome images. Besides the standard tanks, all of the other adaptations of the Panzer III chassis are covered. This is particularly helpful to the modeler who wants to get his vehicle just right.
Then the main part of the book, which are many pages of full color images of various tanks that are held in museums. For this edition, vehicles held in the collection of the Deutsches Panser Museum in Munster, Germany, the Musee de Blindes in Samur, France, and the Tank Museum in Bovington, England provide the reference tanks. Every part of the interior and exterior of these vehicles has been photographed so you can see what the real thing looks like as well as the differences between variants.
All of this is additionally enhanced by the artwork of Manuele Villa, who provides color profiles and color plates of various tanks in the camouflage of the time.
In all, it is an outstanding reference on what was one of Germany's main medium tanks in the first half of the war. A book that will be a boon to modelers and one that I can highly recommend.
