This volume from the very popular 'Osprey Modelling' series is aimed at those who like to do military figures. This is the first dedicated figure book in the series as well.

In line with other series books, there is a brief introduction to the subject and then the author gets right into doing the figures. There are four of them covered: SS Sturmann, SS Scharfuhrer, SS Schutze and a Panzer Grenadier.

The book is more than just painting these figures as each of these examples are modified in some way or another; some of them quite extensively. The process is accompanied by detailed photo coverage showing each step so that the reader could duplicate it if they wanted to do so.

Then comes the painting. These figures were chosen because of the rather intricate camouflage worn by these troops. Each is different from the one before and detail painting procedures are provided, complete with a listing and mixture ratio of paints.

These are followed by a listing of available kits and accessories as well as some reference materials.

Modelers of all subjects can take away some new techniques or ideas from this book and those whose interests lie in WWII figures will find it especially useful.
