Once again, Osprey provides us with a superb compilation of previous soft bound editions and additional material into a hardcover book. this time the inputs are from the Campaign series and include volumes 1, 100, 104, 105 and 112.

The book looks at all the normal aspects of the Campaign series such as the background to the invasion, the major players in the campaign, the opposing armies and how they were either set up for defense or trained for the offense, the equipment used by both sides and how well both performed in battle. There is the usual, 'what went right and what went wrong' sections and a look at the various battlefields today.

The book is divided into four different sections. The first concentrates on Omaha Beach, the second on Utah Beach and the US Airborne Landings, the third on Sword Beach and the British Airborne Landings, with the final section covering Gold and Juno Beachs. Throughout the book are a superlative selection of period photographs, unit tables, maps, charts and the artwork of some of Osprey's finest illustrators.

This all makes into a most comprehensive volume on what has to be considered the greatest military event of the 20th Century if not all time. It is gripping and informative and best of all, at a price that is hard to pass up. It is one that every student of history should have on their shelves.
