An area of fascination for many is the German involvement in the Spanish Civil War. While many think that this was a response to help the Spanish Nationalists, it was actually an opportunity for Germany to try out its military weapons in a combat situation. Unlike the Italians and on the other side, the Soviets, the Germans basically operated at an autonomous force. They never really integrated with the Spanish forces as did the others.
Another thing is that the Condor Legion was not just the air arm of things but included naval forces, intelligence forces, anti-aircraft, and a section of German Army, though the latter were rarely used in combat and mostly performed instruction of troops and equipment.
The book covers all of these in enough detail to whet one's appetite for more. What the Elite series of books does is provide information on the uniforms and awards worn by the subject and this one provides a superb look at the various garb of the men of the Condor Legion. Much of this through the excellent illustrations of Ramiro Bujeiro and with period photographs.
Carlos Caballero Jurado's writing is really excellent and flows well from section to section, making for a most enjoyable reading experience. This is a book that is bound to be well-received and is a superb primer on the subject. Quite highly recommended to all.
