I was not surprised to find this book in the latest offerings from Squadron/Signal. They have done similar books on the previous Mid East crisis' within a very short time of the official end of hostilities in the past. You may not think it so, but 5 months is a very short time in which to get a book set up, printed and distributed.

As with the previous books of this type, all of the images within are from official sources (USAF, USN, USMC, RAAF, RAF/RN). As such, they are all well done and do an excellent job of putting forth the best that their respective services have to offer. Photographs are crisp, clear and show servicemen doing their various jobs of either servicing the aircraft or the usual hero pilot poses. In all, it gives a good account of what has to be done during wartime.

The book also includes an order of battle for both the USAF and for the USN/USMC. It is also loosely categorized into sections for bombers, fighter, helos, and support aircraft. A great deal of the book is in color. In fact, I'd say that every other spread is done that way. You turn a page and you see color. Turn it again, and you see black and white. A very interesting way of doing things.

Probably due to the need to get the book to the market while the events are still relatively fresh in our heads, there are no profiles as we have come to expect from a Squadron/Signal book. The only artwork is on the front and back cover.

Overall, it is a good record of the heady days of war and I'd not be surprised to see a similar book on the ground war make it to the store shelves in the near future.
