This is the one of the first of the new Osprey series on modeling various aircraft types. The Bf-110 is the subject of this edition and covers everything the quarterscale modeler would need to produce an excellent representation of the kits involved.

The book opens with a brief historical background on the 110 and the salient features of the various subtypes. Next is a section on modeling the Bf-110 in 1/48, including a run-down of all past and current kits (which is basically two; Fujimi and Revell). As one can expect, there are several variants and reboxings listed.

Next section is one of the two major portions of the book. There are 25 pages on building the Fujimi 1/48 Bf-110C/D. Two full builds are provided with one being pretty close to out of the box while the second one has a ton of aftermarket and additional detailing.

This is repeated for the Revell version, with 29 pages devoted to a basically box stock build and one with all the aftermarket stuff thrown into it.

Frankly, this is an excellent way to portray the construction of the model. Many will not want to go whole hog on the kit and so there is a section for them as well as those with deep pockets who insist of having $100 in aftermarket tossed into a $20 kit.

Each of the construction portions is well photographed with all of the salient dos and don'ts as well as various pitfalls that the builder may encounter. All of the photography is in color and very well lit. In addition to the quality photos, there is a running commentary on the various builds.

To add to the book, there is a section on accessorizing the model with a base and figures. The base is especially well done, depicting a compass rose, which makes for a most memorable display.

A few pages of photos of other 110 models, bibliography and various decals and accessories rounds out a most interesting and informative book. If you are contemplating the construction of a 1/48 Bf-110, then you couldn't ask for a better reference and guide.
