The second volume covers the period of 1943-45 and the struggles of the night fighter arm to keep up with the ever increasing RAF bombing raids. It is probably in the night fighting portion of the war that the greatest electronic technological 'battles' were being fought as one side would develop equipment to circumvent the other side's momentary ascendancy and then just as quickly things would change over.

Fortunately for the Allies, though the Luftwaffe developed some pretty spectacular and capable aircraft and equipment, the loss of experienced crews, the foolishness of sending night fighter units against day bombers (where they were cut to pieces), the lack of fuel in the last year of the war, and the overwhelming superiority in sheer numbers of Allied aircraft were enough to spell out defeat for the Nachtjaeger.

The book covers the period of 1943 to the end of the war and like others in this collection, provides a history, personal recollections and an excellent array of period photographs, quite a few of them in color. There are also the fine color artworks by Tim Brown and Tom Tullis to further enhance the value of this book as they not only have the full page profiles, but also photos from which these profiles were taken.

The huge number of interesting camouflage schemes and the detail into which these markings are described make this book an excellent reference for both enthusiasts and modelers alike. It is a book that I thoroughly enjoyed reading and can most highly recommend to you.
