This edition of the Airliner Tech series follows a similar format to that of  previous editions that I've read. It starts with the initial history of the aircraft, followed by features of the plane, the testing and certification process and then airline operations. In the case of the Electra, though only a relatively small number were built, it initially operated with 14 airlines.

Next are the inevitable problems and resolutions of those concerns. Actually, there weren't many of them for the Electra compared to other types. This is followed by a color section, various derivatives, and finally current operators.

For those of you who are looking for P-3 Orion information, you'll have to wait for that book to be published as this one concentrates solely on the Electra.

I was quite taken with the derivatives section as much as any other part of the book. I had not realized just how much the plane had been modified for other uses and the types of specialized equipment that it has carried.

The book is full of photographs and includes pictures of nearly every operator that the type has seen. As with all of similar books, there is a listing of every Electra built, its original registration and owner. Those with a more interesting history have that information annotated as well.

I found this edition to be well written with enough technical information and detail to make most enthusiasts happy. The choice of photos was also well done and makes this a book that prop-liner fans should have on their shelves.
