We all know that IsraDecals produces what are among the best decals in the world. One of the things that makes them so good is the superlative research that goes into producing them, ensuring the highest accuracy for the modeler.

This same outlook on things goes into their books.

The latest is F-4E Phantom 'Kurnass' in IAF Service. This is part 1 and seems to carry the history of the plane to about the mid 1980s

The book is divided into five major sections. First is an introduction and history of the type. Then a Photo Gallery that covers the aircraft in the markings of all the units that have used the aircraft. There is then a section on Phantom operations during the various Israeli-Arab wars, again, up to about the mid 1980s.

This is followed by a potpourii of images showing maintenance, before and after sorties, and arming the aircraft. Finally, there is an outstanding walk-around section that covers both the inside and the outside of the aircraft. There are photos of all the major weapons carried by the aircraft and as a real bonus, the book includes a set of 1/48 scale plans.

The number of quality photos  is a major plus and there are a huge number of them throughout the book. In fact, this is as much a photo book on the IAF's Phantoms as it is a history of the type. If you are a modeler, this is the reference on the Kurnass thanks as much to the crystal clear photos and drawings as anything else. It is a book that will be very difficult to top and one that I can offer my highest recommendation.

Thanks to IsraDecal Publications for the review book. You can get yours direct from the hyperlink to the left or from your favorite bookseller. If you don't see it, ask them to order it for you.
