Your editor has a fascination with armored cars. While many go for the tracked vehicles (like tanks), I like the smaller and faster ones with wheels! Of the dozen or so military vehicles I've built over the years, only a few have been tanks while the rest have been towed artillery or armored cars.
When it comes to the armored car, the German ones seem to hold the most interest amongst modelers. Well, right here in one volume is as good a primer as one could have of all the various vehicles that were used by the Germans. The book covers the very first rather ungainly vehicles produced prior to WWI right up to the superlative SdKfz 234 series of 8-wheelers built at the end of the war. Also covered are various prototypes and make-shift vehicles as well as some dummies built just to throw off Allied reconnaissance. The book is profusely illustrated with quality period photographs and 1/35 three view drawings.
Included in the back of the book are a number of superbly done color profiles as well as some period color photographs, a cut away of an SdKfz 231 (8 rad) and some close-up photos of a restored vehicle. Though the book is in Polish, there is a 6 page English summary at the back of the book. It would have been nice for the English write-up to be done along with the Polish version as Kagero does their books, as I'm always feeling I'm missing something , but it takes away little from the book itself. The main reason for this is the the vast majority of the book is photographs, making this a perfect primer for those who want to get started in the subject and for those who are intent on making a very accurate model. Add to that all the possible diorama ideas and this is a book that should be on the shelf of any WWII German military enthusiast.
